You may have gotten a virus on your computer. Update your virus software so you have the latest definitions and software to perform a full scan. You will also want to check your computer for spyware and ad aware to make sure you have nothing running in the background using up resources and slowing down your start up.

Some antivirus programs will be set to scan on boot. Check your options and make sure this is not enabled as this can really make Windows 7 boot slow. Next you will want remove any programs in startup that you do not absolutely need. A lot of programs put themselves in startup automatically. Well isn’t that just great. You would think Microsoft would get their act together by now. I shut it down and restart it again this time it starts up normally.
