First of all if you’re taskbar is double in size, height wise, place your mouse on an empty spot on your taskbar and right-click, make sure the lock Taskbar is not checked. If it is uncheck it. After that you will be able to move your mouse on the top of the taskbar and dragg it down to normal size. Lock it when you are through so it does not change again accidentally.

There is also the WinXP taskbar double problem that shows two sets of icons. Or repeats your taskbar twice. In most cases this will fix your problem

Right click on the taskbar and make sure that Lock the Taskbar is unchecked
